Next up on our lineup of board members is Christa Marsh! Christa serves as the 4-Year Public Institution Representative on the ArkAAN Executive Board. Christa’s home institution is Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR where she serves as an Assistant Professor of Biology in the SAU Biology Dept. Christa holds Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Master of Education in Secondary Education and is currently working towards her Doctor of Education in Rural and Diverse Educational Leadership at Southern Arkansas University.
Outside of the classroom, Christa works primarily with freshman students with 30 hours or less in the Advising Center at SAU. Her favorite part of advising is “getting to know the students and helping them along their journey. It is rewarding to see them graduate and succeed.” said Marsh. Outside of advising and teaching, Christa is married, has three children, and lots of pets including a tarantula named Henrietta. Her newest fur baby addition is an adopted goldendoodle named Hiccup! She also likes to collect succulents and other types of plants.
Christa enjoys serving on the ArkAAN Board because she loves making connections with other advisors in the state and learning tips and tricks. Her advice for other advisors is to make personal connections with your advisees so that they know you truly care about them and their college experience and success.
This is Christa Marsh, YOUR ArkAAN Four-Year Public Institution Representative!
