We’re back with another board member spotlight!

Today we’re highlighting Dr. Krista Nelson! Krista serves as the Vice President of Diversity on the ArkAAN Executive Board. Krista’s home institution is Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR where she serves as an Associate Professor of Psychology. Krista holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology. In addition to her role in the classroom, Krista advises psychology students. Her favorite part of advising is getting to know the students better.

Outside of teaching and advising, Krista is married and has two daughters. They reside in Magnolia, Arkansas and love to travel. She has several pets, including dogs and a pet skunk named Scarlett.

Krista enjoys serving on the ArkAAN Board because she enjoys getting to meet all the great people! Her advice for other advisors is to “Take the time and really listen to your advisees. They have so much to say.”
